Questions Indianapolis Homeowners Ask About Rodents
These come up on calls all the time. If yours isn't here, call. Our guides cover a few of these in more depth.
All the Questions
Are you an exterminator?
No. We're a referral line. We connect you with an independent, licensed company, and that company handles the job and its cost.
Which rodents do you take calls about?
House mice, deer mice and other field mice, Norway rats and voles. Not squirrels, raccoons, chipmunks or bats.
Where do you take calls from?
Indianapolis and the nearby cities and towns, including Carmel, Fishers, Greenwood, Avon, Plainfield and Lawrence.
Does the city or county help with rats?
The Marion County Public Health Department has a rodent control program. You can file a complaint, and a technician can inspect and bait outdoors. See the alley rats guide.
How do I check that a company is licensed?
Indiana credentials commercial pesticide applicators through the Office of Indiana State Chemist at Purdue. Ask the company for its business license and the tech's applicator credential.
Do ultrasonic plug-ins work?
Purdue Extension says they're generally not effective. Traps and sealing are a better bet.
Do I need to be home?
Most of the time. On the first visit the tech will want into the basement, garage and attic.
Can you give me a price over the phone?
No. Prices come from the company after they've seen the property.
What are the trails in my lawn?
Probably voles. See vole control.
Do you guarantee the work?
We don't. Warranties come from the company doing the job, so ask before you agree.
